The Swan Lake nursery

Soft, timeless and layered. A nursery built around the atmosphere of the ballet, in a Dutch family home.

Not every room has to be pink to feel romantic. This world is built around the atmosphere of Swan Lake. A carefully composed palette forms the basis of everything you see. The ruby-red dresser, the heart-print wallpaper and the rug of drifting lilies reinforce each other quietly.

Swans, roses and flowing shapes run through the space like an undercurrent. Not as a theme that demands attention, but as a feeling you recognise again and again.

What makes it work

  • The swan above the berry red dresser comes from the story.
  • The rug pictures the pond, with lilies drifting on it.
  • A heart-print wallpaper and a scalloped blue border, soft enough to read as texture instead of pattern
  • Warm, low evening light, so the room turns from day to night without a switch
  • A cot and a dresser that can leave later without the world leaving with them

A story you recognise, not one that shouts

There is no ballerina print on the wall and no tutu in the window. The story is in the swan above the dresser, in the lilies on the floor and in the roses that return in small places. That is how we work with a theme: as an undercurrent you keep recognising, not as a picture stuck on.

A room where a child doesn’t just sleep, but steps into a story.

Two worlds that really exist

No moodboard that stays a moodboard: these are rooms where a child falls asleep tonight.

How it works

From the first conversation to handover, every room follows the same four steps.

More about how we work
  1. I

    Introduction

We meet over coffee, in person or online. We listen to who the child is and which world you have in mind. You send us the floor plan with the measurements, photos of the room and where the sockets and light points are.

  2. II

    Design

You get the full plan: palette, materials, furniture and the layout of the room. You see exactly what is coming before anything is bought or built.

  3. III

    Making

We source the furniture and objects, have the custom pieces made and tune everything to each other. You don’t have to hunt for anything.

  4. IV

    Handover

We install the room completely and style it down to the last detail. The door opens and the room is ready to live in.

Common questions

Can you design a Swan Lake nursery for us?

Yes, but it will not be a copy. Every room starts with the child and the house, so your version will have its own palette and its own details. Swan Lake is the story we build around, not a template.

Does a ballet theme only suit girls?

Not at all. Swan Lake is about calm, water and a story, not about tutus. It suits any child, and it grows along: the swan and the lilies stay lovely long after the cot has gone.

What does a nursery like this cost?

A styling session with a colour plan starts at €450, a restyling with floor plan and item list at €1,900. What the furniture costs you pay to the shop, without markup. See the pricing overview for what each package includes.
